Weston Anson, CONSOR Chairman, recently led a Table Topic discussion at the International Trademark Association’s Annual Meeting in Barcelona on the topic of “Rights of Publicity and the Media.”
The use and viewing of media, including social media platforms, is entrenched in our daily routine. Increasingly, celebrities need to be aware of the use and misuse of their personal brand. The discussion revolved about how to value the celebrity brand in the age of social media, and how to protect that value. Attendees shared their experiences with right of publicity issues in both transactional and litigation matters. Anson’s outline is attached.
